FLEET MANAGER/HEAD DIESEL MECHANIC

Client is a medium concrete/redi-mix cement/stone company.  They are looking for a “Fleet Manager/Head Diesel Mechanic” to manage their maintenance and repair facility.  The targeted starting salary will be in the six figure $100K range. Their fleet consists of approximately 35 mixer trucks. 9 diesel and dump trucks used to pull bulk and lowboy trailers plus about 25 gas powered pickups and service trucks, including a number of portable electric generators.  This opening is a dual 60/40 type position where the successful candidate will spend 60% of his time (on call) to repair down vehicles and 40% of his time managing/supervising subordinates mechanics.

The successful candidate must be familiar and knowledgeable with mixer and dump truck repair procedures. This includes the ability to diagnose and trouble shoot for needed maintenance/repair, defects and/or excessive wear, knowing when to recondition and/or replace parts. This position involves the installation, inspecting, testing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining the fleet in an efficient operating condition.  Currently, the candidate will supervise two heavy duty diesel mechanics.

Additionally, the manager will train, coordinate and direct the activities of workers engaged in all phases of servicing, maintenance and equipment repair. This includes planning, scheduling, and interface with operational management to be responsive to their needs. The manager will be responsible for ordering parts, lubricants, maintenance related supplies plus maintaining an inventory control count. This activity is to be performed to insure a safe and efficient operation.

The successful candidate should have at least five+ years of related industry experience.
